Finished..?

Just laid the stencil out on this the other day but i'm not really feelin it//

it was a bit hard getting that Heart to follow perspective along the wall, had to go back to paint in the n00b 'overspray' to help emphasize that aspect. i mean, this was only intended as a test work for colors and application methods. (mind the poor lighting of the overall piece). i think i'll call this one finished before i cause any other damage. Just peeled the rest of the mask off this one..think i'll call it finished as well. not STOKED about the turnout but i'm content with my first time serious watercolor use. I don't think i'll put the Heart in this one..just because..idk, i think it looks better in the above one only. To me it gives off a mysterious or lonely feeling, having something covered up with the white buff(the past), but having nothing over it(perhaps representing a feeling no one else can relate to) we'll see if i grow into it. R.I.P. Throwback/ Leah Brady/ January 2010

Forgot to upload this into the 'You know what..fuck it..some more older stuff' post..was just reminiscing. one of the pieces that better incorporates my overall style i believe..why don't i have time for this stuff anymore?//

I knew exactly what i wanted out of this garbage-picked wood too(i usually stare at a blank canvas and heavily visualize what exactly what i want to do), and i knew from the second i found it that i had to take advantage of this piece, the panels, alternating them with 'B/W and color' to emphasize my theme//

Panel 1-2- positive outlook- with as much as we have going on in our lives, complications, relationships, hardships, seeing things in COLOR may only make it more difficult(it will rain, and things may get a bit messy..), we need to sometimes try to see things in BLACK and WHITE. what we have and what we don't. what matters and what doesn't, etc, and the light will shine through providing clarity.
Panel 3- she wanted 'let love win' incorporated into it, with my own style. one of my favorite parts of this piece
Panel 4- a taste of home. she attends university in Minnesota so why not take a bit of home with her? pictures of Chicago, SSPP Church steeple, NNHS football game. pay attention to the detail on that B/W to color transfer on the bottom..fsu.
Panel 4-5- more taste of home, then transitioning into a SFR piece with one of my signature abstract styles. the SFR piece representative for relationships as a 'good luck/always have hope/always love/love will always be there' sort of idea
Panel 5-6- transitions into the complications of life, and when looked at in B/W once again, you'll find out what's important. to her what's really important is religion, notice that little white cross that emerges atop the 'haze' of our daily struggles.
Panel 7- my own incorporated style again, inspired from one of my earlier high school pieces.

it means a lot more once you know what's behind the piece doesn't it?

Update!

1. Found parts for this guy!!//

..finally. Should be here tomorrow(Friday) or sometime early next week.  Can't wait!
Good thing V-Day is cleared of gf's for me *sheds tear*

2. New semester, new medium. I haven't really been one for water color, being comfortable with more controllable, dry(er) mediums, but hey, what's there to lose? I've had this piece in mind that i've wanted to paint for a while now(using an acrylic wash and ink), and i thought using watercolor would get me used to that; letting the medium do its own thing and for me to not be as neat/controlling of the medium(as i am with life, go figure). And i've worked with acrylic washes before.. but not to the extent of what i want to accomplish in the work i've had in the back of my head. anyways, first legit watercolor in progress//

It's odd..as much as i love working tightly with detail and precision, i absolutely love watercolor and the different application methods. Still learning how to become more loose with it however. Above left is a photo i took back in August 2011, love it, gonna miss this place. Count Casa R.I.P.(more to cover on that later)..

And to the left was not originally intended as a work..but moreso to test colors/methods, guess i'm proving myself wrong! expect more of these drawings.

Speaking of Videos//

Forgot all about this till just now. This was a collaborative timelapse piece my buddy and i worked on, on and off for..roughly a month and a half, sometime October - November 2009. This was for my older brother for his birthday..was a little late on the delivery. Turned out well though, it hits! So if you have a couple minutes(11:38) to spare, check out one of the few clips of me in action, please//
